For a hassle-free entry to Glacier National Park, it's important to note the entry requirements for different entrances. On the west side--including the North Fork, Camas, and West Entrance--reservations are required from late May until early September, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the east side--including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and Going-to-the-Sun Road from Rising Sun--reservations are required from early July until early Septemmber, between 6 a.m and 3 p.m.
To ensure smooth access, visitors must have either a vehicle reservation or a service reservation. Additionally, a valid Park Entrance Fee or a relevant Park Pass (such as Annual, Senior, Military, etc.) is required. More detailed information on qualifying fees and passes is available here.
Glacier National Park is accessible around the clock, enabling visitors to enter before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without requiring a vehicle reservation. You can learn more about accessing the park without a reservation here.
If you have already made reservations for lodging, camping, or commercial activities like boat tours or horseback rides, you do not need a separate vehicle reservation. Simply present your confirmation email upon arrival to access the designated area of the park associated with your booked activity.
Vehicle reservations for Glacier National Park can be made up to four months in advance, with a portion of reservations becoming available at that time. Any remaining reservations will be released 24 hours prior to the desired visit. For 24-hour reservations, booking starts daily at 8 a.m. MDT on the day before the planned visit. It's important to note that reservations can only be made through recreation.gov.
