Lake Five
Lake Five Resort sits along the eponymous body of water, offering a secluded and pristine getaway. The lake has warm, clear water, making it an ideal spot for swimming, boating, skiing and other water activities. There are plenty of options for water access both on resort grounds and at other parts of the lake. Paul's Memorial Fishing Access is a great place to launch boats for better lake enjoyment.
Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park is truly a sight to behold. The national park is home to forests, meadows, mountains and lakes. Hikers will want to visit Glacier because of the 700 miles of trails. Hiking isn't the only activity available. Other popular activities include photography, bicycling, fishing, boating and cross-country skiing, among many others. Glacier National Park is open year-round but may have less staff in the offseason.
Flathead National Forest
Flathead National Forest is a big part of why this section of the Montana wilderness is so gorgeous. The forest encompasses 2.4 million acres that include lakes, rivers, 2,000 miles of hiking trails and plenty of ski areas. The closest ranger district office is in Hungry Horse. The northern portion of the forest is what's closest to Lake Five Resort. Canyon Creek Groomed Snowmobile Trail System is a close point of interest.
Flathead River
Fans of water activities will want to check out Flathead River, which runs west of Lake Five. Near the resort, there are forks of the river as it rejoins near Hungry Horse. The river is a great place to go fishing and white water rafting. Middle Fork Flathead River is the closest fork to Lake Five Resort and offers a great place for fly fishing. Rafting and floating is available on the different forks and each features a unique experience.
